NO progress this week

cause I did something very stupid.

Aaron's therapist had her last day with us on Thursday, we're in the process of hiring someone new, but since she wouldn't be back on Monday I decided to dig out the room and give it a good clean on Friday. Since Mom and Albert were here in the afternoon so I figured I'd have help cleaning and someone to keep an eye on Aaron.

We took everything out of the room and vacuumed. I took the shelves down to wipe them but left the brackets on the wall, don't ever, ever do that. When I walked back into the room I saw something on the floor and as bent down to pick it up I stabbed myself with the bracket just below my brow bone. 1/2 inch lower and I could have lost sight in my eye, luckily I'm fine, I just look hellish.

I got a small gash which Albert thinks wasn't caused by the bracket since it is horizontal and may have been a tear of my skin, my eye is purple and will visit every colour of the rainbow, and my sister came by (she's a nurse) and said not to be surprized if it swells shut.

Lesson learned

Luckily, it didn't swell shut but it did swell enough that I couldn't stitch or do any of the other things I had planned while Aaron was at Mom's for a sleep over.  Now it looks like I was on the loosing end of a fight but at least the swelling and bruising will go away, it could have been much worse.

Happy mail, happy day

Received the beads and thread I need to finish Lily of the Valley.  I'm very happy I don't have to put her away to wait.  I haven't been stitching that much the last few days.  I've been trying to clean and organize the house before Aaron goes back to school.

Here is a progress pic of Lilly

Aaron's uncle (his dad's brother) got married on Saturday and we went to the church service and to the park where they had some family pictures taken.  Here are a couple of pictures, one of Aaron and I at the house before the wedding and one of Aaron at the park.

Up the pond

Today is the 196th Royal St. John's Regatta.  It's a favorite day for me, I love going to the pond, not so much for the races but for the food, the games of chance and the atmosphere.  The regatta usually draws around 50,000 people to the shores of Quidi Vidi Lake.  It's also an odd day cause it always falls on the first Wed of August, weather permitting and it's a Municipal holiday for St. John's but if you work in any of the surrounding towns it isn't a holiday.

In other news I paid my deposit for a scrapbooking retreat in Nov.  I went to the Spring retreat in April for the first time and had a blast so I decided to do the fall one as well.  It's at a church camp about 45 min outside St. John's.  The accommodations are basic, 2 sets of bunk beds per room and bring your own linens, but the company and the food were well worth the price.  Last time I went with 4 friends and there were three other girls there that I knew, this time none of my friends have signed up yet but I know know 20 more people so I'm sure I'll have a great time.

Aaron went to Nanny's for a sleep over last night so I got some progress made on Lily of the Valley.

Finally progress

We had a busy weekend last week with the whole family here on Sunday to celebrate Aaron's birthday.  Then on Monday since it was his actual birthday My mom, sisters and I took him out for supper.

Tuesday threw a real wrench into our lives as Aaron's home therapist gave her notice.  I knew it was going to happen since she is working with three families now and both Aaron and one of the other boys will both be in school full time in Sept.  I just knew there was no way to fit the hours both need into after school, especially when the therapist is starting a distance ed program as well.  We are optimistic that we will find someone else, if not before she goes than before school starts.

Needless to say I haven't done much stitching this week, but I sat down last night and after a minor frogging session I have progress of Lily of the Valley.  She now has two arms and one wing is completed.

A Lily of the Valley update

I'm having so much fun stitching this piece and she's going quickly.  I need to slow down a little because I didn't have the beads I needed for her and just ordered them this week.  I'm afraid I will have to put her away soon and wait for my order to arrive.

Aaron's day out

Aaron got to go on an adventure today with his Nanny Shirley and Aunt Donna.

First they went to McDonalds for lunch and Aaron got a cool Mario Visor.

Next they went to the Suncor Energy Fluvarium, Aaron and I have been there twice before, with his class in Kindergarten and Grade 1, for field trips.

Then they did a little shopping at Walmart.

Finally, they went back to Aunt Donna's house for a swim in the hot tub.

And what did Mommy do while Aaron was out?  Housework.  I did take a break and stitched a little, here is an update on Lily of the Valley.

Also, my brand new Fall/Winter lia sophia style guides arrived.

Stitching again

It's been 6 months or more since I put a single stitch into my many Cross Stitch projects.  So I decided last week to try again.  I love stitching and have been doing it for 25 years.  Instead of picking up one that I had been working on I decided I needed a fresh start so I chose Nora Corbett's Lilly of the Valley Pixie (my birthday flower). Here's what I have done so far, I'm afraid I don't know the name of the fabric.

July Cross Canada Blog Hop

Welcome to our July Blog Hop featuring Summer Albums.  To purchase any of the items seen in our blog hop today, contact your local consultant to place an order.

We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we love to get feedback from our viewers....whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do.  By leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here, as this is a circular. If you came from Terry Ann then you are in the right place!

For my Summer Album I was inspired by one I saw on The Wizard's Hangout and followed the tutorial found on Get Creative with Traci

I used the Jubilee paper pack, Cashmere cardstock, Cashmere ink, Tropical Bakers Twine, and the Rosewood Mini-Medley.  The title was cut using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge.

This is the front cover

This shows it opened up, under each flap is a pocket for a card on which you can add a picture.  You could also add pictures to the front of the left and right pocket.  On the front of the middle pocket is a pocket for a mini card.

This is the back which has two more mini pockets to hold full sized cards.

Finally, this is a picture showing  the flaps up and the card held inside.  Just to let you know, I've only added a couple of pictures because I will be adding more from our summer activities in August.

A Sneak Peak

The brand new CTMH Annual Inspirations book is available to order from on August 1st.  I thought I'd share a sneak Peak of the book and some of the new products.

Here is the cover of the new idea book

We have two new consultant kits with this book and the contents will change throughout the year.  We have a scrapbooking kit and a cardmaker kit.

We also have a brand new Cricut cartridge called Artfully Sent which focuses on card making but it looks like there are lots of other great cuts.

If you would like any info on these or any other CTMH products please contact me.

Once again

I'm such a terrible blogger.  If I can only manage one post every 6 months my life must be so boring or so busy, I think I'll stick with the busy excuse.  I'm resolving to post here more often and especially to use it to show my artwork.  In that line I'm planning to take part in the CTMH Cross Canada Blog Hop on the 15th so please come by and check out my blog and all the other creative Canadian Consultants taking part.

I'll end with a recent picture of Aaron, taken on July 1st while on our trip to Bell Island.

Out of the Darkness

We had a major snow and wind storm on Friday and a fire at one of our power generator sites which left most of the island without power yesterday and there are still around 35000 people without power.

Mom stayed here Friday night and we lost power around 9 Saturday morning. Around 4pm my sister called and said there was power on at Mom's building but neither one of wanted to drive since there was still a lot of wind and with the lights out across town they were telling people to stay off the roads. When Albert got off work at 5 he came and drove us to Mom's where we stayed last night. The lights cam on here at lunchtime but we stayed at Mom's until after supper to give the house time to warm up.

Aaron was suppose to start school tomorrow but they've decided to keep the schools closed until Wed to conserve power and they said we may have rolling blackouts.

A new year and hopefully a new blogger

This year I have two resolutions, to save some money and be a better blogger.

I'm saving because CTMH has announced their convention locations for the next 3 years, in 2014 and 2015 it will be in Disneyland and 2016 it will be in Disney World.  Albert and I have agreed that we will be taking Aaron to Disney World so I can go to the convention again and we can have a family trip.

I'm also determined to share more of my scrapbooking and pictures with all of you.  I'll start with some pictures from our Christmas.

A couple of Aaron dresses for his school Christmas concert.

Our Christmas Tree, I changed my colours this year from red and white to fuchsia, purple, and teal.
